Ritmo 66-in-1 Universal Storage Adapter

The Ritmo 66-in-1 Universal Storage Adapter saves the day!

One of my friends old laptop went to silicon heaven (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Heaven) and would boot no more (I did eventually get it to boot but it looked like the on-board graphics had failed as the screen was an unreadable mess and it would BSoD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bsod) within minutes, so it was pretty much useless). She brought herself a new MacBook Air (http://www.apple.com/macbookair/) - the problem was then how to get her data from the old Windows laptop on to it. And she did not have a backup (of course!).

A quick chat to the guys at Metro PC (http://www.metropc.com.au/) soon had it sorted. Using the Ritmo 66-in-1 Universal Storage Adapter (http://ritmotech.com.au/satotech/product_info.php?products_id=686&osCsid=39784fa06d1847d75d2db94f02a04dea) I could remove the old hard disk from the laptop and mount it on the MacBook as a USB drive. The hardest part was finding all of the screws to remove the hard disk and I soon had the drive copied to a folder on the MacBook.

Using the Ritmo could not have been easier. The biggest problem was working out which of the many options were required. I did not try and count them all but I don't doubt that there were 66 of them. All cables and a power supply were included, but the only instructions were those printed on the back of the box. I guess if you know enough to know what it is used for, then you should know enough to know how to use it. Highly recommended.
